mails getting stuck in queue

Hi All,

I just setup a qmail server using qmailrocks.org. i'm having an issues
wherein some e-mails get stuck in the queue.

I check the logs i see these:

@400000004cbf1cec2cd5d244 delivery 82: deferral:
CNAME_lookup_failed_temporarily._(#4.4.3)/
@400000004cbf1cec2cd5da14 status: local 0/10 remote 25/255
@400000004cbf1cec2cd5da14 delivery 83: deferral:
CNAME_lookup_failed_temporarily._(#4.4.3)/
@400000004cbf1cec2cd5ddfc status: local 0/10 remote 24/255
@400000004cbf1cec2cd5e1e4 delivery 84: deferral:

this one i understand that a domain could not be resolved, but qmail
should send a bounce mail to the user, unfortunately it doesn't and it
gets stuck in queue.

i also saw another error:
deferral: qmail-inject:_fatal:_unable_to_parse_this_line:

i think this one due to type error by the user.

may i know where do i start checking why some mails are getting stucked
in the queue? some e-mails can go out to the recipient ok, but some just
gets stuck.

Hi Ron,
I would not expect a bounce message to deliver to a sender if the box
cannot look up the DNS info of the sender. I can say from bitter
experience, without a good DNS system, your email will grind to a
screeching halt. Fix that, and many problems will melt away...
in your qmail/bin directory, find the command qmail-qread, use it to
look at the mail in your queue. Maybe you can glean some clues from
that as to what is different about the mail that is delivering and the
mail that isn't...
